Great Western Minerals Appoints New Investor Relations Manager

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, May 21, 2007 - Great Western Minerals Group Ltd. (the "Company") is pleased to announce that Mr. Gordon Dent has been appointed to the newly created position of Manager, Corporate Communications. Mr. Dent's previous position as Manager of Investor Relations will be assumed by Mr. Ron Malashewski.

Mr. Malashewski has many years of experience in many facets of the investment industry including several years as an Investment Advisor with two major Canadian Investment Firms. Prior to entering the investment industry, he held Senior Engineering roles with a major Canadian municipal electric utility, and was involved with many aspects of Technical Project Management, Operations, Strategic Planning, and Corporate Development.

In addition to holding memberships in several business and professional organizations, he holds an Ontario Prospectors License and is Member of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM).

Mr. Malashewski is also President of Cliff Lake Capital Limited, a corporate consulting firm that advises clients on matters of Strategic Planning, Corporate Development, Operations Management, Corporate Finance, and Investor Relations.
